Description
KVK Corporation's Expansion Engine is a vertical, single-acting, reciprocating machine designed to produce the cold required in cryogenic air separation plants. High-pressure air is expanded through the cylinder to produce cooling, while the hydraulic system operates the inlet and outlet valves. The expansion engine helps in an approximate temperature drop of 50 to 70°C, depending on inlet air pressure, inlet temperature and inlet cam position.
Key Features
- Vertical, single-acting reciprocating construction.
- Produces the cold required for cryogenic air separation.
- Controlled expansion of high-pressure air for efficient cooling.
- Hydraulic system for valve operation.
- Electric motor used for machine start-up and speed retention.
- Three major units: drive unit, cylinder unit for air expansion and hydraulic valve-control system.
- Approximate temperature drop of 50 to 70°C under conditions stated in the catalogue.
- Designed for dry, Carbon Dioxide-free process air to avoid ice and dry-ice formation on valve seats.
